The symbolic ceremony offers you the unique opportunity to celebrate your marriage vows in your own, individual way.

In contrast to civil or religious ceremonies, in a symbolic ceremony, all aspects of the ceremony are entirely customizable according to your personal wishes and preferences. The choice of location and time is completely open, and the ceremony itself has no rigid guidelines. This results in unique ceremonies that are very intimate and individual, providing you with ample space to express your deep emotions.

No matter what religion or gender you belong to, a non-religious ceremony is possible for everyone. All you need is your loved one to whom you want to make your promise.

We've compiled some tips for your symbolic wedding ceremony in Croatia:

  1. WHICH TIME? Choosing the right time for your ceremony is essential. In Croatia, especially during the summer months, it can get quite hot during the day. Therefore, we recommend planning your non-religious wedding ceremony in the late afternoon or early evening. This way, you and your guests can avoid the midday heat. Additionally, the timing is crucial for your photos. The sun can be quite harsh in the midday hours, making it challenging to capture beautiful wedding photos. Planning your ceremony during the late afternoon or early evening will provide better lighting conditions for stunning photographs.

  2. LOCATION FOR THE CEREMONY An outdoor ceremony is beautiful and offers various location options. Whether it's right on the beach, in a romantic olive grove, or in the garden of your reception venue, where the ceremony takes place is entirely up to your preferences. Ensure that the ceremony location is easily accessible and not too complicated to reach.

  3. WHO SHOULD CONDUCT THE CEREMONY? In principle, anyone can lead a freie Trauungszeremonie, even one of your loved ones. However, we recommend hiring a professional officiant or celebrant. They are known for their empathetic approach and can create and deliver a personal and meaningful speech tailored to your desires and visions.

  4. INVOLVE YOUR GUESTS! Personal words from grandparents, siblings, best men, bridesmaids, parents, or another person dear to your heart can enrich your ceremony with a special emotional moment.

  5. DURATION OF THE CEREMONY To ensure that your guests can attentively follow your ceremony, we recommend that the non-religious wedding ceremony should not last longer than 30-45 minutes.

  6. WEDDING ARCH An eye-catching element that should not be missing in any non-religious wedding ceremony. However, it serves not only as decoration but also symbolizes the gateway to marriage, leading you into a new phase of life. Furthermore, the wedding arch is meant to represent a roof over your heads, symbolizing protection and security.

A symbolic wedding ceremony is not legally binding, as it is not conducted by a government authority. Therefore, no documents or official procedures are required for it.
